Gogebic Community College - Nursing School Renovations

 

Description	Demolition and renovation of 3rd floor classrooms in the Rutger Erickson Academic Building on the main campus of Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, MI. Renovation project includes the rearrangement of several classroom spaces into nursing program simulation labs, nursing stations and specialized learning rooms. Project includes the demolition of existing walls, ceilings, casework and finishes in affected classroom areas including the demolition and replacement of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Renovation of classroom spaces and main corridors include new doors, new viewing windows, new materials and finishes. Existing 1-hr fire rated corridor walls will remain and where demolition may occur along corridor walls, new walls will match existing fire ratings. Besides classroom renovations, a new single-user ADA compliant bathroom and a private “Mother’s Room” for lactation purposes are planned and several teaching staff offices will receive new finishes. Partial demolition of ceiling, mechanical and electrical systems is required on the 2nd floor to accommodate the updated mechanical and electrical systems on the 3rd floor.
